WHAT IS JUMP RACING?

 A jump race is a race that includes obstacles for a horse and rider to jump. These can be small things known as obstacles or large things known as fences. Jump races are held all year round, but traditionally in autumn, winter, and spring. The official name for jump racing is National Hunt Racing, which refers to its origins. Jumping races are a test of physical strength and jumping ability, so participating horses tend to be older than flat horses. They look bigger and more developed than the finer and more elegant flat horses. Known as hurdlers and chasers, these horses may have been either run on flat ground in the past or specially bred for jumping events and later purchased for training. The race is held over a range of distances of 2 to 4 km under certain conditions that are qualified according to the gender, age or ability of the horse.
